What is HTML

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is a markup language used to create web pages. In other words, every web page has its own HTML. It is a page structure on which the page is assembled.

General description

The skeleton of the website is built with the help of HTML, and for example with such frameworks as Node.js, Laravel, Django, etc. is built and regulated the functionality of the website.

Remember, HTML is not a programming language

Here is an example of a web page using only HTML

And a web page example, using it with CSS.

How to create an HTML file?

First, you need to right-click on the Desktop, then select New, then Text Document, և type the file name, for example, index, where the word html after the dot is the file format.

How to work with

To work with HTML files, you need to have a graphic editor on your computer, for example:

  • Sublime Text,
  • Visual Studio Code,
  • Nodepad++,
  • Atom,
  • Brackets and etc.

I mainly use sublime text, here is the link https://www.sublimetext.com/

It does not matter which graphic editor you use, it is more a matter of convenience. The download is like regular software.

How to open an HTML file in a graphic editor?

You need to open your downloaded graphic editor and move the HTML file there (as shown in the picture).

HTML document structure

Any document written in HTML language is a collection of elements embedded in each other, with the beginning and end of all elements being marked with special tags. There are two types of tags, binary and single.

Binary tags consist of two tags, opening, and closing, and single tags consist of one. Here are some examples of binary tags

  • <h4></h4>
  • <html></html>
  • <p></p>

Here is an example of simple tags

  • <br>
  • <hr>
  • <meta>

As you can see, closing in binary tags differs from opening only in the / sign.

The HTML document starts with the <html> tag and ends with the </html> tag. The document consists of two main parts: the notification section and the body of the document. The notification section is included in the <head> and </head> tags. The body of the html document is included in the <body> and </body> tags. Everything we see on the web page is written in body.
